A background check is often a final step taken by employers to help make a well-informed hiring decision and protect the employer (and all their employees) from a number of potential risks. Employers may review a candidate’s criminal record history to help them evaluate the honesty, character, safety, and qualifications of their candidates.

The best approach is to be honest with your potential employer and explain the situation.
